{project 50} #43 Plastic Straw Stars

This is yet another simple and very easy project for you to do. :-)

Here in the Philippines we have our favorite element during Christmas and it is called a "parol" (aka Christmas lantern). Most of our "parols" here are shaped like a 5-point star and that is my inspiration for making this project.

Plastic straws are banned to use here nowadays because it is a non-biodegradable material which causes problems of flooding and clogging of drainage pipes (since most of the common people here are somewhat fond of littering everywhere). Now to reduce waste, I am reusing these plastic straws as an easy-to-make Christmas decor.

Start by assembling 5 pieces of straws like so:

Then staple the 5 corners of the star (marked with circles.)

Do the same thing with your other straws and you will have these:

Add strings to make it a Christmas garland or let it be as it is then stick them on walls. It can also be used as a simple star-shaped wreath for doors and windows as your Christmas decor. Add more Christmas-y elements to the stars as you please.
